Realms Core or Realms Plus
Both Bedrock plans get you the same thing: a world hosted by Mojang that stays up after you log off. They differ in how many friends can be online together and in what comes bundled with the subscription. The owner always keeps a reserved slot on top of the numbers below.
- Realms Core
- 2 other players online at once. US$3.99 a month, with 5GB of space for manual world saves.
- Realms Plus
- 10 other players online at once. US$7.99 a month, 10GB for manual saves, and all Marketplace Pass content.
- Java Realms
- A separate subscription that only works with Java Edition. Also 10 other players, at US$7.99 a month.
A Core subscription can be upgraded to Plus at any time without losing the Realm.
Worlds and saves
Every Realm holds up to three worlds and runs one of them at a time. Only admins can switch the active world or change its settings, and on Bedrock that includes the add-ons.
A Bedrock Realm saves itself every 30 minutes while people are playing, and again when the session ends. Those automatic saves are only kept for a limited time. Turn the ones you care about into manual saves: they last as long as the Realm does and count toward the 5GB or 10GB.
Uploading to a Realm is also the only official way to get a world off a console or out of Android's internal storage. Setting up a Realm covers the upload, and Realms vs a dedicated server helps once ten friends is not enough.
Members, invite links and trials
On Bedrock you add members from your friends list in Manage Realm members, or share an invite code. The code works in the Realms tab of the Play screen and as a link at realms.gg in a browser. A Realm stores up to five invite links, and banning a member also stops them from getting back in through one.
Every account can have one 30-day free trial. A subscription also comes with a separate Realm for Minecraft Preview, and a Realm that has been cancelled or has expired is deleted after 18 months without activity.
